Tuesday Dec 05, 2017
Tuesday Dec 05, 2017
INTRODUCTION:
Thank you for joining us on the Prayer and Faith Podcast today. The world is desperately in need of Jesus. The lost need Jesus and his Salvation and forgiveness. Governments need Jesus and his wisdom. The Saints need Jesus and his righteousness and his strength. We are honored that you would join with us in prayer today as we intercede. We are partnering with Jesus and he will respond to us as we pray today. Just remember to keep believing as the Word of God makes clear: The Just shall live by faith.
FAITH BUILDER VERSE:
Matthew 7:7
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Psalm 30:12
that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
INTRODUCTION TO TOPIC
For many in the west, this is an extremely busy time of the year. Thre will be visits with family, gift buying for Christmas, large Christmas dinners. It is also the end of the year, which means a lot of work projects will be coming to a close. It is very easy at this time of the year to actually lose sight of the Lord. We must be careful not to become consumed with the cares of the World, during this time or any time.
How can you tell if this is happening? How much time are you spending in prayer each day? How much time are you spending in the Word of God each day? Are you spending time worshipping God each day?
Spiritually, do you feel like you are advancing or backsliding. By looking honestly at our lives we can begin to gauge the depth and quality of our relationship with Jesus.
If you determine that you are not where you need to be, it is time to pause, reassess and take steps to get back where you should be. Let this prayer time be your start back.
The prayer focus for this podcast is for the Lord to help us to remain focused on him and not to be consumed by the cares of the world.
Luke 10:40-42
40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary.[e] Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
Mark 4: 3-8, 18-19
3 “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.5 Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. 6 And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away.7 Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. 8 And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.”
18 And others are the ones sown among thorns. They are those who hear the word, 19 but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.
PRAYER FOR THE LOST:
The other day I was watching a clip from a prayer and worship session at the Moscow House of Prayer and I was touched and was encouraged to join my Brothers and Sisters in Russia as they pray for their fellow countrymen.
Russia has a population of approximately 143,000,000 people
Surveys indicate about 463 percent consider themselves Christians. The vast majority of those are Russian orthodox, with a few catholics and protestants mixed in.
This means well over half of the Russian population have no introduction to the Gospel at all.
