Welcome to the first Prayer and Faith Podcast of 2018. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Holiday season with your family and are committed to fully pursuing God again this year. As a matter of fact, this podcast was going to continue focusing on Praying for Greater Intimacy with God. this was going to be part II of the topic. However, we will push that back a bit, and instead will be focusing on Iran. If you have not heard, there are major protests in Iran and there has been a substantial amount of bloodshed. While news of of Iran has been to a large extent cutoff. As of this morning, I was seeing reports of at least 21 deaths in the clashes between the protestors and the police and military. We will focus our intercession today on the nation of Iran. Before we begin, we want to prepare with our Faith builder verse. Just a note here: All scripture referenced is from the ESV.
FAITH BUILDER VERSE: Mark 11:23
Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Psalm 100:4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
PRAYER TOPIC :
Psalm 2:8
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
Genesis 12:3
I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and inyou all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
The current Government of Iran has continually cursed the people of Israel and in doing so they bring the curses of God upon their nation. However, it is God’s desire that they be blessed. Indeed there is a great stirring of believers in Iran. It is said that significant numbers are turning to Christ.
We will ask the Lord, in his will and in his timing to change the Government of Iran and replace those who curse Israel with those who will bless Israel. It is our hope that many who will be believers who understand that God’s promise to Abraham is an ongoing covenant.
This may seem impossible in the natural. But we are reminded by scripture:
Psalm 21:1
The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.
The King’s heart is in God’s hand. He can turn it one way or another. we have seen this throughout the scriptures. He hardens the heart of one, he humbles another. He can change the government of Iran or he can change the heart of the current government of Iran. Much of what happens depends on the prayers of the Saints.
We don’t know too much about the genesis of the protests. It appears that it is a combination of economic woes - remember God blesses those who bless Israel and curses those that curse Israel. There is also an anger at the extreme repression and oppression of the people. People have been executed en masses, imprisoned in horrible conditions. Christians have been imprisoned, threatened and quite possibly killed.
So there is much to ray for.
We will also pray for an end to bloodshed.
We will pray for an end to oppression.
We will pray for the Church and for the Continued expanseon of the Kingdom of God in Iran.
We will pray for the Spread of the Gospel through Iran.
Iran is a nation of about 80 million people. Even with what the Lord has done, estimates are that only .15 to .2 percent of the population are Christians. That means that some 99 percent of Iran are lost
